Chemicals

Chemicals info:

Chemicals are produced through a combination of reactive elements, and can be found in solid, liquid, or gaseous states. The term "chemical" refers to a vast number of substances and processes that cannot be fully addressed in a single comprehensive manner, but by focusing on those in the pharmaceutical and industrial fields it is possible to derive some general information. In natural or artificial forms, these specific chemicals play a crucial role in the production of industrial components and medicines. Although chemicals are common in day-to-day life, proper care must also be taken when handling them, particularly those with the potential for harmful or volatile reactions.

Chemicals are integral to modern society, whether in medicine, industrial manufacturing, or the production of foods, glues, and plastic. Chemical substances can be broadly categorized as metal, non-metal, compound, element, and covalent types. Manufacturers have used the chemicals in these categories to not only create products, but also a wide range of specialized professions, such as engineers and chemists.

PEEK Coated Fiber Evaluation.
Reporting on the tests done on polyether ether ketone (PEEK) coating for optical fiber, this paper states that Zeus PEEK coated fiber was evaluated using Luna's optical backscatter reflectometer model 4600 (OBR 4600), which uses optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) to determine the optical characteristics of the fiber. Featuring images...
Flatline Alkali-Silica Reaction with Pumice-Blended Cement for Pennies a Yard
Highlighting alkali-silica reaction (ASR) as a pestilence which infects and destroys vital concrete infrastructure, this paper states that ASR can be mitigated in the concrete mix design by specifying a consistent, quantifiable supplementary cementitious material (SCM). It explains the ASR reaction in concrete along with its destructions, and...
Pumice Pozzolan: Summary of Phase Two Research on Hess Pozz; Quantifying the Effectiveness of Pumice-Blended Cement on Mitigating the Alkali-Silica Reaction
Overviewing a research conducted by Hess Pumice in collaboration with the University of Utah in determining and quantifying the effects of pumice as a concrete pozzolan, this paper investigates why pumice from Hess Pumice deposit is effective in mitigating Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR). It lists alkali content, moisture, siliceous aggregate, and...
Remediation and Prevention of Moisture in Electronics
Stating that moisture in an electronic product could affect the brand integrity, which in turn affects sales and services, this paper explains how a company can protect their brand image by preventing the moisture issue at stage of product design. It briefs about the role of Multisorb Technologies in selecting desiccant formulation and form...
